Recreating 16th Century Frames

Watched Framing Titian: Love Desire Death by National Gallery from Twitter

How do you make six huge frames for Titian’s mythological paintings?

Peter Schade, our Head of the Framing, shows the process of creating six huge matching frames for the ‘#Titian: Love Desire Death’ exhibition.

These frames took three weeks to carve each 😳

Frames are interesting because if you get them right they are “invisible,” one with the work, even elevating it. And the wrong frame can neuter a piece.
