Read Sentient

When an attack kills the adults on a colony ship, the on-board A.I. VALERIE must help the ship’s children survive the perils of space. Can Valerie rise to the task?

This lacked a little depth for me. I needed more character development for Lil, and I think some more time especially after the first chapter could have helped convey Val’s growth and the power dynamics of the children better. I also would have appreciated more clarity around the pirate (?) ship and its goals.

I think he tried to be clever with the narration in a couple places that didn’t match up. I did like the premise but felt this didn’t take full advantage of the concept.

I liked the art and felt it fit the story well.
