At last, our solar system inverter has been replaced and is working again, so I can finally say I’m heating my house with the power of the sun! βοΈ
What I did:
- Walked with a friend despite light rain πͺ And two other walks! Such exercise.
- Assembled my January listening report πΆ
- Got a new cat tree — the old one eked out ten years of life and has needed to be retired for a while π±
- Did my state business taxes, got my FEIN, and registered for WEBS πͺ I also wrote out a list of all the things I need to do to start getting projects of my own — it’s a lot π³ But I’ll chip away at it.
- Accidentally binge-watched the last four episodes of GBBO when we realized our Netflix subscription ended that day π
- Baked banana bread ππ
- One appointment
- Not enough writing or consulting work π
Reading:
I signed up for Kindle Unlimited because there are a bunch of things I want to read on it. I’ve been resisting because I’m tired and haven’t been reading much, but maybe having stuff I actually want to read will help me read more π€
- Read Dark Class, Dark Ambitions, Warmth of His Light, andΒ Resisting Maxu
- Made progress on Stolen Focus, though the library is taking it back
- Started reading Wayfinding
- DNF’d Electric Heart by Anna Carven
- Added 1 book to my TBR
- Acquired 9 free books through giveaways
New feeds I’m trying out:
- On the Commons by Antonia Malchik
- Chartbook by Adam Tooze
Words I looked up / concepts I learned:
Stuff I learned:
- Jellyfish have an anchored stage before becoming free drifting (via Eons)
- We forgot how to treat scurvy for a while and Scott’s antarctic expeditions in the early 1900s suffered from it
- Iran has gone through a massive demographic transition over my lifetime: “Between the 1980s and the 2010s Iranian women reduced the rate at which they had children from 6.5 to 2.5, faster than the pace of the one child policy in China.“
Changes to website:
- Changed the drop-down menu to have a pink background instead of black
- Changed tables to have a pink heading
