large furrowed tree trunk of a deciduous tree beside bright green backlit leaves on the lake edge, the water barely visible between gaps in the foliage
A beautiful afternoon at Saint Edward State Park! I was annoyed by a lone jet-skier, why do they have to be so loud? There must be a way they can have fun without disturbing everyone in a mile radius 🤔

Stuff I did:

  • 3.25 hours writing
  • 2 hours consulting
  • 17 hours business development! 😲🥱 I decided to apply for another roster with a deadline next week 👀 so I’m packing a bunch of work I’d planned to complete over the next month into a week 😱 My holiday weekend may not be much of a weekend 🤷‍♀️
  • Organized sample works in my portfolio and updated my resume
  • Baked blueberry pancake cobbler from Smitten Kitchen Keepers
  • Rode my bike for the first time in a while and walked once with a friend

Weeknotes: April 8-14, 2023

My husband moved his office downstairs this week — we’re swapping spaces between his office and my reading/ chilling spot. He’s been wanting to for a while, but there’s no internet downstairs and wifi doesn’t cut it. Then he realized that the previous owners had installed phone jacks using cat5 cable instead of pots, which he could reconnect/ reconfigure to create an internet connection downstairs using the existing cable 🦾 Now I’m excited to have a new space to decorate for my reading room *rubs hands together*

Stuff I did:

  • 10.25 hours of consulting work
  • 3.75 hours of writing
  • Finished calculating my business taxes! Now I have to figure out the best way to give them the money and the paperwork by Tuesday 💸
  • Rewatched Dune
  • Baked zucchini bread, vanilla scones, and cornbread
  • Published my 2023 Q1 check-in

Weeknotes March 25-31 2023

Welp, my husband got laid off this week, so some new life changes ahead for us. We’ve got time to figure out next moves, but it’s galling that the only real reason to stress about finding a new job is healthcare* — I’m not making enough to cover two people’s healthcare on top of our current expenses.

* Employers like to emphasize the value of your “total compensation package” but unemployment is based on your wages. 😒

Stuff I did:

  • Just under 10 hours of consulting
  • Started working on my Q1 check-in
  • Started working on my business taxes
  • Went to Deception Pass for a day trip
  • Canceled Tidal and some other subscriptions
  • Walked with a friend once
  • One appointment

Reading:

  • Read Soviet Space Graphics, Edge of Eon by Anna Hackett, and The Duke Gets Even by Joanna Shupe
  • Started reading Gladiator by Anna Hacket
  • Finished reading How to Calm Your Mind by Chris Bailey and re-read Unraveled by Courtney Milan
  • DNF’d Freethinkers by Susan Jacoby and Witchlight by Jessi Zabarsky
  • My mom bought me a hardback copy of Braiding Sweetgrass and I bought Unraveled in ebook
  • Added 1 book to my TBR (Eleanor Janega’s The Once and Future Sex — I follow her blog but still missed that this book came out two months ago 🤦‍♀️)
